Dualis Social Investment Fund
Dualis Social Investment Fund is a nonprofit organization which promotes social impact through social businesses, businesses that train and employ underserved populations that are not part of the labor market.
We believe in strengthening the underserved populations by creating employment opportunities and training.
In our view, the best combination between the business world and the social world is not only by donation, but by investing and assisting entrepreneurs to build and operate for-profit social businesses, which act dually, combining social goals with business objectives.
What is a social business?
A social business is one that aspires to realize social aims while gaining profit – an initiative which uses business tools to address social issues.
Social Businesses waive the right to maximize profits in favor of promoting their social goal, yet they become profitable and sustainable while maintaining their social activity.
The way Dualis operates
Dualis operates in a manner similar to a venture capital fund. In addition to the required capital, every investment is accompanied by mentoring; strategic planning, financial management and marketing, as well as support and reinforcement for the social business.
Our philosophy supports colaborating in multi-sector partnerships, striving to have each social business include non-profit organizations with expertise in the specific target population; Entrepreneurs, corporates, business executives and relevant departments in local municipalities and government agencies.
Dualis also operates to raise public awareness to impact investing, develop SROI measurement tools, work with government agencies to recognize and provide a regulatory path for the creation and development of a social investment market in Israel.
Dualis' profits from investments in social businesses are re-invested in establishing additional social businesses.
Dualis Yozma Fund
Following our winning of the matching grant tender to establish and operate the Social Initiative Fund, managed by the National Insurance Institute Funds, the Ministry of Finance and the National Economic Council, we established the Dualis Yozma Fund.
The new 6.5 million USD$ Fund will invest in 15-20 social businesses that train and employ “people on the margins”.
